Funeral Home Reviews
Morrisville, Pennsylvania
My family had a terrible experience at the J Allen Hooper Funeral Home. Calls and e-mails were rarely returned, even to answer the most simple questions. The person helping us actually complained to us that he was overworked. My grandmother looked terrible at the viewing and the makeup was literally cracking off of her hands. I know it was not "her" but we ended up deciding to close the casket because they did such a terrible job. I would avoid this one at all costs.

In reply to Joe Browne's complaint---Joe--We are sorry that you feel this way and understand your being upset. However, a funeral director can only advise a family on closing a casket. We cannot force a family to say yes to a closed casket. We are not ashamed of our work-we go farther than most would. We advise a family, but CANNOT force them to make a decision. We do what the family asks us to do after we have made our recommendations. We hope that your heart can rest in the fact that Tim is at peace.

Dealing with CR and his crew is like dealing with a bunch of poorly trained monkeys. My father died very suddenly, without any true preparation in funerary matters. So you'd think that Piatt&Barnhill would take the opportunity to do the best job they could. They didn't. Created by CR and his terrible toupee our questions were greeted by a series of bumbling "uhs" and "I don't know". If my father's body wasn't already in transit I would have walked out then and know now what I do, I should have. But that was only the beginning. After countless clerical errors on the death certificates, they refused to mail them to us. Demanding that we stop in and pick them up. For being in the business of helping alleviate stress and work during a time of grief theses people, they fail immensely.

Dear Family Members: This is a note from Bernetta Ramsey. She is the granddaughter of Cora Vee Robinson. Cora was the daughter of Bertram Thomas Blakey Sr's half-brother(Aaron Herron(Herring)). She explains what happened when they used Spriggs & Watson Funeral Home to bury her grandmother last Fall. We are both asking the Pittsburgh Blakey Family and friends to take this into consideration when having to choose a Funeral Home to bury a loved one. "My grandma Cora Robinson died on September 13,2012 we had went to Spriggs and Watson for them to do the services Mr. Anderson is the person that we dealt with he owed us a refund that we didn't get November we talked to him on several different times was told we would get the refund. So our next step was to send a certified letter which he didn't accept so had to paid extra money for a constable to serve him. We had to take him to Magistrate January 24,2013 which he didn't even show up the Judge ruled in our favor. Why he felt that he should keep more than he was to get I don't know showed us he's a shaddy man" Thank You
